28K Ultra-marathon swim

The Cruce Golfo Dulce 28K ultra-marathon swim starts in Puerto Jiménez, the competitors cross the gulf to reach Playa Nicuesa and  return back to Puerto Jiménez on the same route. Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge’s pier on the other side of the gulf is the return point. 

There will be two starts, the first one for the elite swimmers and the second one for the rest of the swimmers. The finish line will be located on water.

Time limit: 10 hours

Time limit for registrations: September 3rd, 2023

1. For your own safety in order to participate in the Cruce Golfo Dulce it is mandatory for every competitor to count with his/her own assitance team which should include a safety boat and its crew, power snacks, hydration, lights for the boat and swimmer. 

2. You must provide a certificate that proves your previous experience in at least one marathon swim. 

3. Present a medical approved endorsement that certifies you are in optimal conditions to participate in the 28K race.

4. Your average pace should be less than 2'20" each 100 meters or 23'33" each kilometer in order to be able to finish the race within the time limit.

5. Assistance to the safety talk the day prior to the race is compulsory for all participants, please make sure you attend to it.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. The safety kayaker is not mandatory since you must have your own boat for assistance.

2. We recommend you to perform at least 2 night swims prior to the event, this since you will be swimming in the dark during the first couple of hours of the competition.

The registration fee includes the following:

Swimmers insurance, participation medal, Tiger shark trophy made by Manual Bianco a local artisan, prizing access, organic Jagua tattoo, swimming cap, t-shirt, swimmer’s bag, race timing system, fruits/hydration at the finish line, private security during the event, medical assistance provided by the Costa Rican Red Cross Search and Rescue Aquatic Unit.

There will be a safety talk the day prior to the race as well as an introduction to the Golfo Dulce’s ecosystem.

The Cruce Golfo Dulce 14K Marathon swim starts in Playa Nicuesa, the competitors cross the gulf to get to  Puerto Jiménez where the finish line will be located on water, no need to run on the beach. 

There will be to starts, the first one for the elite swimmers and the second one for the rest of the swimmers.

Time limit: 6 hours

Cost: USD $250

Time limit for registrations: September 3rd, 2023

4. Your average pace should be less than 3'00" each 100 meters or 30'00" each kilometer in order to be able to finish the race within the time limit.

5. Assistance to the safety talk the day prior to the race is compulsory for all participants, please make sure you attend to it.

Start point: Playa Platanares

Finish point: Puerto Jiménez

Time limit: 3 hours

Cost: USD $100

Time limit for registrations: September 3rd, 2023

The registration fee includes the following:
